Your new Mac, set up like the old one.
Carryover pairs your old and new Mac over your own network, shows you everything that’s different, and brings across the apps, tools and settings you tick. Apps come from where they should: the App Store, Homebrew or the developer.
Free 14-day trial. One licence, three Macs. macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon and Intel.

How it works.
Pair
Open Carryover on both Macs. The old one shows a code like K7QF-3MZD; type it on the new one, or pick the old Mac from the list. Everything after that is encrypted.
Compare
Carryover reads both Macs and lays out what’s different in three tabs: Apps, Tools and Settings.
Choose
Safe things come ready-ticked. System, Dock and accessibility changes wait for you to tick them yourself.
Bring it over
One button runs the lot as jobs you can watch. Permissions are asked for when a job needs them, with a plain reason.
Apps come from where they should.
The App Store
Bought it there? Get it there again. Carryover opens the app’s page in the App Store, you click Get with your own Apple Account, and the job ticks off as soon as the app lands.
Homebrew
Installed with a cask on the old Mac, or listed in Homebrew’s public catalogue? Carryover installs it with Homebrew, and can set up Homebrew and Apple’s Command Line Tools first if the new Mac has neither.
The developer
Everything else, straight from the people who make it. Carryover opens the developer’s website — or a search for the app, if it doesn’t know the site — and ticks the job off once the app is installed.
Never copied
Carryover does not copy apps from one Mac to the other. Your licence for an app is between you and its developer, and a fresh download is the current build, installed the way its developer intended.
What comes across.
- Apps
- The apps the new Mac is missing, each from its official source.
- Tools
- Homebrew itself, Apple’s Command Line Tools, and your Homebrew taps, formulae and casks.
- Settings
- Dock, Finder, trackpad, keyboard, hot corners, menu bar, appearance, screenshots and Mission Control.
- Admin settings
- Energy, sharing and startup. These need your administrator password, and Carryover marks them before you tick.
- Newer macOS
- A few settings are stored in formats Apple doesn’t document. On a macOS version Carryover hasn’t been checked against, those say Not supported on this macOS yet instead of guessing.
- Afterwards
- Optionally, keep the Macs in step: change a setting on one and it follows on the other, through your own iCloud Drive.
One price, three Macs.
- Price
- £24, one-time. Includes every 1.x update.
- Macs
- One licence covers up to three Macs you use. It’s on your honour: nothing counts them.
- Trial
- 14 days, every feature, no account. After that you can still compare your Macs; bringing things over needs a licence.
- Requirements
- macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Apple silicon or Intel.
- Privacy
- Your Macs talk to each other directly, encrypted, on your own network. No account, no analytics. Privacy policy.
- Back up first
- Carryover changes settings and installs software. Make a Time Machine backup before you bring things over.
- Payment
- Handled by Paddle, our merchant of record. VAT added where it applies.
- Refunds
- 14 days, no questions. How refunds work.
