Privacy notice

Last updated 7 October 2026

Gobo Designer has no account, no analytics and no tracking. It runs entirely in your browser: the text you type, your fixture and surface positions, any font or logo you upload and the artwork you export are worked out on your own device and never sent to us or to anyone else. This page sets out the little that does reach us, and what stays with you.

Who we are

Ryan Anstey, trading as FableForge, Flat 103, The Antigallican Hotel, 428 Woolwich Road, London SE7 8SU, [email protected], is the data controller for the personal data described below.

What we collect, and why

Visiting this site

Cloudflare hosts fableforge.uk and keeps its standard access logs — IP address, user agent, the address requested, the time — for a short period, to keep the site up and to block abuse. Loading Gobo Designer is an ordinary page visit and creates the same log lines. We add no analytics on top of that and we do not build a profile of you. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure, working site.

Emailing support

What you send us — your message, your email address, and anything you attach, such as a project file — sits in the support mailbox while your query is open and for a short while afterwards, in case you come back to it. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in answering you.

What stays on your device

Your project

So that a reload does not lose your work, your browser keeps one copy of your current project in its local storage, under the name gobo.project.v1. It holds your text, settings, positions and any font or logo (SVG file) you uploaded. It is never sent anywhere. Remove it at any time with Forget my project on this device in the Output tab, or by clearing this site's data in your browser. The cookies and storage page has the detail.

Files you save

Saving a project and exporting PDF, SVG, DXF or PNG files creates the files in your browser and downloads them to your device. Nothing passes through us. What you do with them afterwards — for example sending artwork to a gobo maker — is between you and them, under their privacy policy.

Everything the page loads

The program, its fonts and its libraries are all served from fableforge.uk. The page makes no requests to any other website.

Who we share it with

Cloudflare, for hosting and for routing email to our support address, and the email provider that hosts the mailbox that address forwards to. Nobody else. We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for advertising.

Where it goes

Cloudflare may process data outside the UK, under the UK's approved transfer safeguards — the International Data Transfer Addendum, or an adequacy decision where one applies. Cloudflare's privacy policy has the detail.

How long we keep things

Support email while your query is open, and a short while after. Access logs for Cloudflare's own short retention period. Nothing else is kept by us, because nothing else is collected.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or to correct it, erase it, restrict or object to how we use it, or port it elsewhere. Email [email protected] and we will answer within a month. In practice the only personal data we could hold about you as a Gobo Designer user is your support email.

If you think we have handled your data badly, tell us and we will try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
